Awa Band Live At Cargo, East London (feat. Tony Allen, Roberto Pla & Jason Yarde)

Awa Band's live recording was lost for over 20 years until 2020 when the band received an unexpected message on FB from David More, a recording engineer on the gig who informed the band, that he kept the live recording of the show all those years listening to the recordings, it was clear that the band sounds absolutely amazing.

The all-star guest musicians on the night include the late, legendary afrobeat drummer Tony Allen of Fela Kuti's African 70, Damon Albarn co_creator of the Good the Bad, and Queen project, on drums, Dele Sosimi, ex-Egypt 80 Fela's band on Keyboards, Jason Yardiy on Saxophone, the Legendary Latin percussion maestro Roberto Pla, and the Awa band members, lead by Songwriter, trumpeter and lead singer of Awa Band Barbara Snow, Vancho Manoilovich on drums, Guiche, on guitar, Davida Mantovani on bass, Dave Bitelli on Sax. Paul Taylor, on trombone, and Dotty Green on lead vocals. in the audience, are the duo of the Full Intention production team, Micheal Gray, and Jon Pearn who had just produced the Awa Band hit record Timba, and the follow-up single Tudo Lindo released on Defected Record.

The show was put together by the one and only Quintin Scott of Strut records, at the Cargo venue in East London in 2001 to a full-house London crowd. The Awa Band, Funk/Latin, and African sound, mixing melodies and lyrics in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and in English.

The Awa Band track Timba remains a club classic and the latest single on Native Music, Green Samba, is getting good radio support
