Awa Evolution

It all started as Awa and together we can learn was our first and only single released by Touchwood records in 1994 as a vinyl released. A trance music with a conscious lyrics. "Together we look to the future's eye, together we get there". In the 90s Landon was a melting pot of so many genre of music from trance to jungle, house music/garage and so on. Awa was signed in 1994 to Touchwood records part of Chrysalis music. Our A/R was a trance/jungle music fanatics who believe that the future of music is trance/jungle and electronic music. We spent a lot of our studio time at Chrysalis studio in west London and other studios making that genre of music . But it never took off, but Together we can learn ended up on Belgium compilation album This was a quote by djfrankiebones 17 May 2006 Edited 17 years ago "As the title suggests, Awa had a message to send. But only a small amount of people heard "Together We Can Learn". This was a very obscure trance track from 1994. It did get the attention of several Belgium labels on Technoville's radio show and Frequencies, a techno/trance compilation. But the problem with that was that in both situations the track was grouped with some of the best tracks of that era. So somewhere in the heat of a moment, the track got lost. But for an early trance prototype, this record still sounds amazingly well, even 13 years later" But, unfortunately for Touchwood records, the labels seized to exist but, that was not the end of Awa, Fortunately for Awa we were introduced to a British producer and re mixer named Hustlers Convention, a brilliant producer who had a track record in the dance music sing, they are looking for the duo of Michael Gray and Jon Pearn are in need of a production partner who can write songs so, we are introduced to them, the duo of Michael and Jon, that is where we really want to be, we love disco, funk, soul music of the 70s. We started writing songs for them and in return they did a couple of remixes for us , besides our regular song writing for the duo. The first song they remix for us was titled Timber and it was released under our own labels called Song Star records. This was a period when DIY releases was it's peak, we approach RTM distribution around King's Cross in London. To our surprise after listening to the demo on cassette, we are asked to manufacture and deliver 2000 vinyl records to them, Timber became an instant club hits with the Hustlers Convention remix. Ten years later, the same records was reissued by Defected Records and the original melody/lyrics in English was recorded in Spanish lyrics and melody by now their name was changed to Full Intention. Timber went on under Defected Records to become a classic. This was the beginning of the Awa Band, now an electronic dance music live band, the Hustlers Convention also remix other Awa Band songs like Shawn Son, Sweet Dreams (which was originally a jungle music including Eagle Flies and Midnight Express). Together we can learn has been included in the Age of Love_Fifteen years compilation album deal out in October. This compilation album follow the journey of Awa to Awa Band and some of the recording that was never released or released as a vinyl in those days, now we are now releasing some of them as a digital download Awa/Awa Band are the duo of Kayode Samuel and Barabbas Snow (Kayode Samuel Song Writer/ Producer then Barabbas Snow Lead Vocal/Song Writer/ Trumpeter and Keyboardist).
